Our Oil

How are Magic Garden Botanicals products different?

Phytotonic extraction, also known as Advanced Phytonic Extraction (APE), is a method of extracting bioactive compounds from plants using non-chlorinated fluoro-hydrocarbons (phytosols) as solvents. It’s an alternative to traditional extraction methods like solvent extraction (hexane, petroleum ether) and supercritical CO2 extraction, offering several advantages in terms of safety, environmental impact, and efficiency.

All of our oils are made this way.  We use the same oil for our vapes, pre-rolls, gummies and concentrates.

Key features of Phytotonic Extraction:

Solvents: Phytosols, a group of non-chlorinated fluoro-hydrocarbons, are used as solvents. These are considered environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional solvents.

Process: The process involves using a stirred extraction vessel or column, evaporation/collection vessel, gas compressor, and heat exchanger. The phytosol, carrying the extracted compounds, is evaporated, collected, and re-liquefied for reuse.

Advantages: Phytosols are non-flammable, non-toxic, non-corrosive, odorless, and inert. They also offer high selectivity, can be easily modified with co-solvents, and require low energy input for evaporation.

Applications: Phytotonic extraction is used for extracting essential oils and biologically active compounds from plants.

Advantages over traditional methods:

Safety: Phytosols are generally considered safer than many traditional solvents.

Environmental impact: Phytosols are more environmentally friendly than some traditional solvents.

Efficiency: Phytotonic extraction can be more efficient in terms of energy consumption and solvent recovery.

In essence, phytotonic extraction offers a potentially safer, more environmentally friendly, and efficient method for obtaining valuable plant compounds compared to traditional extraction techniques, according to pharmaceutical online.
